Course Overview
Washington State Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) is required for individuals who sell, serve, mix, or supervise the sale of alcohol for on-premises consumption. It is also required for individuals who conduct alcohol tastings at off-premises licensed businesses or fill growlers at grocery stores. Safe Serving’s training program is designed to help students understand their legal responsibilities, develop responsible alcohol service practices, and meet Washington State certification requirements.
Our online course lets students learn at their own pace and prepares them for the final exam required to obtain a Washington MAST permit. After successfully completing the course, students may print a Certificate of Completion, which includes the completion date, provider name, and contact information. The certificate may be used as proof of course completion while the permit is being processed. Although the LCB allows up to 30 days for processing, we strive to place permits in the mail within one to two business days after course completion. Delivery time depends on the mail system, so the date students receive their permit may vary. If needed, students may request expedited mailing for an additional fee.
This course is for both first-time alcohol servers and experienced industry professionals. Because MAST permits are not renewable, anyone with an expiring permit must complete an approved course and obtain a new permit. We recommend completing the course before your current permit expires.
